Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (commonly known as SEO), is a process or technique of improving the ranking of a website on organic search engine result pages. A web page or a complete website can be optimized as per need if you want it to have a better ranking in Search Engine results. Some major Search Engines include Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.

 

Types of SEO: -

There are mainly two types of SEO: -
  1. Black Hat SEO
  2. White Hat SEO
 

BLACK HAT SEO: - 


Black Hat SEO techniques are illicit in nature. They do not follow the guidelines laid down by Search Engines for web pages. Black Hat SEO Techniques include link spamming, keyword stuffing, cloaking, hidden texts, hidden links, site hijacking, etc.

WHITE HAT SEO: - 


White Hat SEO techniques are legal guidelines that that must be followed while designing the web pages. If White Hat SEO techniques are followed, then it becomes a very easy task to bring the ranking of web pages in organic searches. White Hat SEO techniques include high quality and user centric content, HTML, CSS and JavaScript optimization, etc.



If we talk about the techniques of SEO, then there are two techniques or we can say that Search Engine Optimization is divided into two categories: -
  1. On Page SEO
  2. Off Page SEO 
 

On Page SEO: -


On Page SEO includes all the changes that we do on our website to bring its ranking. Some On Page SEO strategy includes developing quality content, optimized use of keyword in title and description, the structure of the URL, etc.



Off Page SEO: -

 
Off Page SEO include activities that we directly do not perform on our web pages. Instead we perform them on at some off – sites that ultimately help out web pages. Some off page SEO strategy involves boosting of pages on social networking sites, creating articles, blog posting, forum posting, etc.

With the increasing competition in the market and changing algorithms of Search Engines, it has become an important job to optimize web pages properly because ultimately quality is the only thing that is preferred.
